Houston Chevron Marathon Weekend 2026
Houston's running community has been integral to Friends of El Salvador's growth. Our fundraising events are a huge success in part due to the runners who show up and bring their family and friends. This inspires us to organize health and wellness activities in El Salvador as well. Naturally, we held a series of events this year for the Houston Marathon weekend, bringing together our community to celebrate Salvadoran culture, fitness, and fellowship.
Inaugural Salvadoran Tasting Experience: Coffee Edition
Friday, January 10, 2025 | 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
The Mood Room HTX
Our inaugural coffee tasting experience showcased the rich flavors of Salvadoran coffee culture through an intimate evening of sampling and connection. Attendees enjoyed expertly curated tastings from five local coffee partners—Obsidian Coffee, Chisme Cafe Bar, Amalur Coffee, Kiki Cafe, and Tenfold Coffee—paired with delectable pastries from Magnol French Bakery. Eighteen runners from El Salvador were in Houston for the occasion and were able to stop by for a night of connection ahead of race weekend.

Friday, January 10, 2025 | 4:00 PM
Discovery Green
Runners gathered for an energizing shakeout run ahead of the marathon, featuring Brooks Elite Athletes and Mystery Shoe. The event brought together running communities from Fleet Feet Run Clubs, Strider Department Run Clubs, and Everyday Hustler Run Club for a casual pre-race warmup.
Houston Marathon Multicultural Pasta Party
Saturday, January 11, 2025 | 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Tenfold Coffee
Carb-loading met cultural celebration at our Multicultural Pasta Party, where runners and supporters fueled up for race day with generous portions courtesy of La Pupusa Loka and Sysco. Tenfold Coffee kept everyone energized while DJ Noel on the Mix provided the soundtrack for the festivities. HOKA joined as a sponsor, making this the perfect opportunity to build community connections and share Friends of El Salvador's mission before race day.
Brooks Cheer Station at Fleet Feet Greenbriar (Mile 7)
Sunday, January 12, 2025 | 6:45 AM
Fleet Feet Greenbriar
As marathon and half-marathon runners reached the crucial Mile 7 marker, our Brooks Cheer Station provided an energizing boost with music by Jeezy Vega, fresh coffee, and Brooks freebies to keep spirits high. The early morning energy showcased the dedication of our volunteers and the power of encouragement at a pivotal point in the race, embodying the organization's commitment to health, wellness, and community support.
